How to register a lease with Greater Amman Municipality

The short answer
Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has an e-service to register residential and investment leases, plus services to cancel a registration, get a certified copy and look up a lease by its unique number1. A registered lease is a dated official record of the tenancy, often asked for by other offices. Commercial leases have been handled with vocational-licence transactions since 30 Oct 20252.
Why register a lease
- It gives the lease an official date and number.
- Other offices and service providers may ask for it, for example for residency or utilities.
- It helps both sides prove the terms if there is a dispute.
What to prepare
- The signed lease with the rent, the term and the property details.
- IDs of the owner and the tenant (passport and residency for non-Jordanians).
- Property details such as the plot and building numbers or the property’s number at GAM.
- Payment of any fee shown in the e-service.
